SYML is the solo venture of Brian Leseney Fennell, an American musician born in Issaquah, Washington. The name SYML, meaning 'simple' in Welsh, reflects Fennell's heritage from his biological parents. Before launching his solo career, Fennell was the founding member of the Seattle indie-rock band Barcelona, which formed in 2005 and was signed to Universal Records in 2008.
